Carl L. Abramson was born in Worcester to Swedish-immigrant parents Carl W. and Eva (Skog) Abramson. He was working as a toolmaker at the Morgan Spring Company when he left Worcester to serve in the U.S. Army during the First World War. He served as a private in Company I, 328th Infantry Regiment, 82nd Division. He died October 18, 1918, of wounds received in combat during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive.

Private Abramson was originally buried in the French Cemetery, Froidos, Meuse, France. In December 1921, his parents had his remains repatriated to the United States, where he was interred in Worcester's Old Swedish Cemetery. He was later moved to All Faiths Cemetery, where he and his parents now lie together in Section C, Lot 243.
