Joyce Marie Luton, 84, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014 in the comfort of her own home.
Services: 2:00 PM Saturday, July 19th in Greenwood Funeral Home, 1221 East Division Street, Arlington, Texas.

The world moves in an always repeating, never-ending circle. Day becomes night, the seasons change, and birth begins a journey that inevitably must come to an end. July 5th marked the end of the earthly walk of my dear mother, Joyce Marie Luton, known to all as JOY. At the time, she was surrounded by her family with love and laughter and many happy times of remembrance. She was born in Dickens County Texas on February 3, 1930 at the home of her parents, Lawrence Fox and Marie Eldridge in McAdoo, Texas. She became the bride of Hilliard Guy Herod July 5, 1946 and my mother in 1948. She married William Bill Luton, July 24, 1981, he preceded her in death October 27, 2002. Her interests beyond her family were swimming, gardening, & interior design. She loved to entertain and travel. Her love of family and friends was her very heartbeat. We shall miss her beautiful smile daily. She was a very loving and supportive mother who did her best to lead by example, the way to a meaningful and productive life. Her lessons have been learned well. Our home was a popular destination for relatives and many friends throughout the years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her as her name speaks her legacy, she brought JOY to everyone who met her. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill Luton, and two brothers Levoy and David Fox. In appreciation, the family would like to thank both Covenant Hospice Care and The Caring Hearts for the outstanding and compassionate care given to Joy, with special heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Malissa Cruz.

SURVIVORS: She is lovingly remembered by her only child, Rick Herod and wife Cathy of Arlington; two sisters, Linda Hughes and husband Steve of Euless, and Shyrlee Fox of Denton; grandchildren, Scott & Wendy Herod; great-grandchildren, Trevor & Triston Shannon of Arlington. Joyce also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her closest friends of 65 years, Marc & Charlene Hardin.
