Stephen D "FatBoy" Carpenter, 61, of Anderson died Nov 10 2006, at St. John's Medical Center, following an extended illness.

He was born Jan 15 1945 in Anderson, the son of Ed and Eva Carpenter. He was a lifelong resident of Anderson.

FatBoy graduated from Anderson High School in 1963 and a 1967 Tool and Die Maker graduate of the Anderson Apprentice School.

He worked as a Tool and Die Marker for Barber Manufacturing for 13 years, then at Delco Remy Divison of General Motors in Anderson retiring in 1997, after 23 years as a Tool and Die Maker.

He was a member of the UAW Local 662, and the Lapel Eagles Aerie 4323. Fatboy enjoyed NASCAR racing, fishing (especially on Kentucky Lake) and golfing.

Survivors include his wife, Diana L (Strong) Carpenter, a son Stephen G and wife Staci Carpenter of Anderson and their daughter, a daughter Shelli and husband Greg Allbright of McCordsville and their 4 sons and a daughter; a step-son Rex and wife Tina Delawter of Anderson and their children and grandchildren, a step-daughter Rena Crouse of Anderson and her children and grandchildren; two brothers, Larry and wife Sandy Carpenter of Moonsville and their children and grandchildren, Jerry and wife Ginger Carpetner of Anderson and their children and grandchildren and several cousins. Also surviving are many many friends.

Fatboy was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Eva (Skiles) Carpenter and an infant sister, Nancy Carptenter.

He asked that there be no visitation or services, as cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, he requested that any memorial contributions be to Riley's Childrens Hospital for cancer research.
