Yolande is a distant cousin of mine. I wish I'd have had the opportunity to meet her. I understand that she was quite the lady.

Yolande M. Langhorne died peacefully on Feb. 9, 2006, at Crestview Nursing Center in West Branch, Iowa. Yolande was born on Dec. 15, 1907, in East Helena, where she lived all but the last five years of her life. Her parents were Ferdinand and Rosanna Newhouse, French-Canadian immigrants. She had four siblings, Ferdinand, Roy, Horace and Annette, all of whom have preceded her in death. Her father worked at the AS & R plant and died of pneumonia when she was a young girl. From that time until she was 85 she worked, eventually retiring from Carroll College where she was on the housekeeping staff for many years. She married J. Earle Langhorne during World War II. He died in 1965. Yolande was an active member of the Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic parish of East Helena. She is survived by her only son, John E. Jr. and his wife Mary Jo of Iowa City, Iowa and one granddaughter, Johanna Yolande Langhorne of Minneapolis.
