ABINGDON, Va. Imogene Hilton Adkins, 91, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 11, 2014, at Grace Healthcare, Abingdon, Va. She was born in Leck, Va., a daughter to James R. and Minnie Kiser Hilton. Imogene was also the stepdaughter of Annie Adkins Hilton. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Arcus Adkins; her parents, stepmother, brothers, Hassell and Clyde; her sisters, Jamie McCoy and Betty Houston. Imogene was also preceded in death by a special brother, Earl Hilton. Imogene is survived by two daughters, Nancy Adkins of Abingdon, Va. and Rebecca Adkins of Bristol, Va; one son, Joe Adkins of Jonesborough, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Laurel Adkins of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two grandsons, Michael Adkins of Dublin, Va. and John Adkins of Jonesborough, Tenn.; one great-grandson, Emmett Jewell of Roanoke, Va.; two sisters, Anna Knight of Johnson City, Tenn. and Lucille Trent of Coeburn, Va.; one brother, Don Hilton of Front Royal, Va.; and several nieces and nephews and a host of loving family and friends. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday July 15, 2014, in Greenwood Acres Memorial Park, Coeburn, Va., with the Rev. Les Ritchie officiating. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wesley Bible Sunday School Class at the Abingdon United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Main Street location of Farris Funeral Service.
