Marie was born October 1, 1927, in Udall, Kansas, to Eddie and Cleo (Bannon) Dye. She was reared and educated in Arkansas City, graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1946. She married Lee A. Gregg in June of 1946. The couple lived in Arkansas City.
Marie worked as a sales clerk for the Simpson Dress Shop of Arkansas City and as a hostess for Dillon's Grocery Store. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and the Spencer-Ralston Post 1254 VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son Lee A. Gregg, Jr. and his wife Janis Gregg of Arkansas City; granddaughter Diana Gregg and her husband Dave Gawell, of Lawrence; a grandson David Mark Gregg all of Arkansas City; and a former daughter-in-law Susan Gregg of Arkansas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lee A. Gregg, Sr. and as sister Doris Berig.
Memorials have been established with the First Baptist Church or the Presbyterian Manor.
