ANDERSON — James C. Clark, 65, of Anderson, went home to be with the Lord July 9, 2011, after a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 3, 1946, in Anderson, the son of James and Betty ( Rousey) Clark, and was a lifelong Anderson resident.

In 2011, he retired from the Department of Defense at Fort Harrison after 30 years.

James was a member of the Chesterfield American Legion, and was an avid fisherman and golfer.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War; receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.

Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Clark; daughters, Mellissa Gunn and Cristina Clark; son, James Randy Clark; grandchildren, Keifer Turner, Kelcie Gunn, Sydney Clark and Abbigail Clark; brothers, Alan Clark, Marshall Clark and Randy Clark; sisters, Laura Clark, Delilah Barnes and Karen Bodkin; aunt, Ellen Kinder; uncle, Marshall Clark; and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Clark; and a brother, Ralph Spencer Clark.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Anderson Cancer Center, Community Hospital Anderson, Dr. Naqvi, Dr. Kabir, Dr. Malik, Charyl Petty and Community Home Health.

Services will be held at 11 a. m. Wednesday at Br own-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by the Rev. Richard Gregg. Burial will take place at Maplewood Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 266 Honor Guard.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
