**** This headstone was so hard to read, I originally thought it was for L D BERWIN. But then the dates for the death of an L D BERWIN did not match. After much research and looking at the photos much closer, I came to the conclusion that this headstone belonged to the WIFE of the first L D BERWIN who is buried in San Mateo, California. Then it became more clear as to why the second L D BERWIN's date was off by 5 days, he was the infant baby of L D & his wife Caroline who was born stillborn on September 9, 1864. Possibly this is the reason why Caroline died 5 days after his birth.
