John Shinabarger, my 4x great grandfather, was born about 1764 in Virginia. He married there, about 1793, and the name of his first wife is not known. His children Jacob, Susanna, John and James were born in VA. John moved his family to Knox Co. OH by 1808 where his children Mary Catherine, Joseph, Nancy were born. John moved into Mohican Twp. by 1809-1810 where his daughter Rebecca was born. It is suspected that his first wife died in Mohican, Wayne Co. OH around 1818. John married the widow Mehetable Crofoot (Daniel) Murdock on 21 May 1820. Mehetable Crowfoot Murdock Shinabarger died in Seneca County, OH in 1849 and is buried there. It is unknown where John's first wife is buried but it is speculated she may be buried with John in this Mount Zion Cemetery.
