Interment will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Melrose Cemetery near Nacogdoches. A.C. was born in Chireno on Dec. 17, 1945, to Everett and Bertha Briley. He graduated from Chireno High School, and then married the love of his life, Billie Doris Porter. They would have celebrated 50 wonderful years on Aug. 28. He retired from Shell Pipeline after 34 years, and then continued his career as an inspector for Shell and Colonial Pipeline. He then reluctantly retired after learning of his illness. He was the most devoted husband, daddy, papaw and friend anyone could have asked for. A.C. was an active member of Mulberry Springs Baptist Church, and enjoyed every aspect of worship from singing to preaching. He loved to play dominoes at church and Talley Bottom. He loved to go to garage sales with his wife, and was excited when he found treasures. He cherished visiting with family and friends. He loved to travel, fish and play sports with his kids and grandkids. He loved to work on cars, and also loved to watch Nascar and Fox News. He was a born again believer and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 15, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard "Toke" Briley; and sisters, Lucille Force and Geneene Stepp; and several other cherished family members.
