Born in Charlestown, Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1863, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nichol McPherson. When she was 18 the McPherson family moved to Fremont, Nebraska, where she met and married John T. McGrath on New Years Day, 1885. They came to Casper to make their home on July 3, 1890. Mrs. McGrath came to the assistance of her townsmen in time of need, serving often as midwife and performing the services of undertaker in the days when there were no professional nurses or morticians.
