Jorgene Wee was born Feb. 12, 1847 of the parents Jacob and Jorgene Wee, in Etne, Norway and died Tuesday Jan. 8, 21929 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jennie Larson at Huxley, having reached the age of 81 years, 7 months and 27 days.
She was baptized and confirmed in Etne, Nov., 15, 1874 she was united in marriage to Henry Hatlin who died about four and a half years ago. To this union nine children were born; two died at a young age.
In December, 1881, the family came to America and settled at Sheldahl, Iowa. For the past thirty-four years the family have lived on the farm three miles northwest of town.
She leaves to mourn her death seven daughers; Miss Elizabeth Hatlin of Evanston, Illinois; Mrs. Jennie Larson and Mrs. Julia Antil of Huxley; Mrs. Helen Matson of Fresno, California; Mrs. Mary Mason and Mrs. Susie Porter of Cambridge and Mrs. Inger Kaldenberg of Des Moiones; also ten grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. John Floden of Huxley.
Funeral services were held from the Palestine church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Peder Buland in charge. Short services were held at 1 o’clock in the Larson home at Huxley owing to the illness of three of the daughters. The funeral was largely attended. Interment in the Palestine cemetery aside of her husband.
