The settlement now known as Pleasant Grove had some pioneer settlers, notably Andrew Watts* (*Authority, Mr. Will Watt, his son.) the first white man to settle in that vicinity, who came from South Carolina in 1836. Charles A. Cook came in 1838, and the Hammonds, Jewells and Stevensons came a few years later."
