DENNIS – Millard G. Cramp, 86, of Dennis died on Tuesday, July 15, 2014.

Throughout his life, including the last decade that he lived with dementia, Millard lived happily and fully, engaging everyone he met. He was a brilliant man, sweet and giving to everyone in his circle, including his attendants and visitors at the hospital, right up to his last breath.

Born on December 4, 1927, Millard was the son of the late Almon Millard and Hester Agnes (Quinn) Cramp. He graduated with highest honors from LaSalle Institute in Troy, NY.

After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served until he was honorably discharged on September 11, 1947. He then went on to earn his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1951 and his Masters in Electrical Engineering in 1959 from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. He also earned a Masters in Mathematics from Northeastern University.

In 1951, Millard went to work for General Electric as an Electrical Engineer. Over the span of 40 years, he designed large power generators that were used throughout the world.

Millard was a communicant of Our Lady of the Cape Church in Brewster. He held a black belt in Uechi Ryu Karate and was a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Social justice was very important to him, taking his family to Appalachia to volunteer and ministering to people's needs, whether visiting local prisons, tutoring, or feeding the poor. Millard was a strong supporter of the Agape Community, focused on living Christian non-violence.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Alice Barton.

He is survived by his sons, Brian C. Cramp of Hamilton, MA, David M. Cramp and his wife, Lynn of Southington, CT; his daughters, Valerie J. Mata and her husband Gerald of Stoneham, MA, Marcia E.
