Carol was born December 30, 1925, in Holmes County to Mabel (Snively) Fair and A. Lee Fair, long-time Ohio Representative from Holmes County.
Carol served in the US Army from 1951 to 1958, resigning with the rank of First Lieutenant. During her Korean War service, she earned her BA in nursing from San Jose State College (1956), and graduated from The Ohio State University with her Master of Science degree in Nursing (1958). Carol subsequently taught at the OSU College of Nursing, co-authoring a standard nursing text entitled "Nursing Care in Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Disorders". She also wrote several articles for professional nursing journals, project grants, and workshop/seminar presentations. A 25-year member of the Sigma Theta Tau professional sorority, Carol also received several "Outstanding Teacher" awards and the Chris Award of excellence for a series of teaching films during her tenure at OSU. She retired as Associate Professor Emeritus in 1984. Carol was an active member and faithful steward of the Grove City Bethel Lutheran Church for over 30 years, serving as an Altar Guild and contributor to many service ministries. She was also a member of the Grove City Lioness Club and a volunteer of the American Cancer Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene L. Keith, siblings Larey Fair, Harriett Gamertsfelder, John (Jenny) Fair, Rose Marie Fair and James Fair.
Survivors include her sister Alice (Paul) Hemmeter, brother Martin (Carolyn Gail) Fair, sister-in-law Thelma Rodgers, brother-in-law Gordon Keith and 19 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church 4501 Hoover Road, Grove City, Ohio, with Rev. Peter Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery with military honors.
