He was born on Sept. 12, 1893, in Cottonwood County, Minnesota. On April 1, 1917, he married Marie Buller, who survives him. He was a member of the Church of God in Benton Harbor and served as treasurer of the church as well as head usher.
Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mildred Hoadley of Berrien Springs and Marion J. Darr of St. Joseph; and a son, Marlin Loewen, Benton Harbor. A sister, Mrs. Eva Adrian, and two brothers, David and Jacob Loewen of Hepburn, Saskatchewan, Canada, also survive.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of God on Superior St. in Benton Harbor. Rev. Walter Butgereit of the Benton Harbor Church, assisted by Rev. Glen Marshall of the St. Joseph Church of God, officiated at the rites. A trio composed of Mrs. Fred Fenters, Mrs. Geunter Siegert and Mrs. Fred Wesner sang three songs, "No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus," "Resting in His Love," and "Take My Hand, Precious Jesus," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Glen Marshall.
The services were attended by a large number of people, and there was a large floral tribute. Pallbearers were Lee Dustin, August Bohn, William Reeves, William Gardner, Leslie Butgerteit and Clare Day. Burial was in Crystal Springs Cemetery.
