Milla Nowels
Milla D. Nowels, 91, of 3042 Fourth St., Cuyahoga Falls, died Saturday at Akron City Hospital following a long illness. A native of Salt Creek Township, Holmes County, she was the sister of Ben Speelman of Fredericksburg and Hurd Speelman of Wooster.
Graveside services were held this morning (Tuesday) at the Oakhill Cemetery, Millersburg. The Rev. Gabe Campbell officiated.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the First Congregatonal Church of Akron or to the American Cancer Society.
She was born to David and Selina Speelman and had moved to the Cuyahoga Falls-Akron area in 1918. During World War II she was employed at Goodyear Aerospace. She was also employed as a clerk for O'Neils in Akron, retiring in 1963.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Akron and the Dorcas Guild and Senior Women's Club of the church. She was also a member of the Silver Bell Retirees Club in Cuyahoga Falls.
For many years, she had served on the board of Family Services of Akron.
Surviving in addition to her brothers are two sons, a daughter, a sister, seven grandchldren and six great-grandchildren.
