Burial date was 6 August 1926 in Block 3. Name is also seen as Calligan. The marker for George was removed during cemetery vandalism. If anyone has a photo of the marker for George, please contact me. Thank you!

George Milton Calligan/Callaghan was the son of William Calligan (1815-1895 Wisconsin) and Sarah Campbell (1819-1911). He died in Sumner, Pierce Co. Washington on 3 August 1926. Spouse was listed as Mattie Calligan. Washington death cert #406.

George was married first to Mary Hannah, who died in 1896 and is buried next to him also. He married second to Mattie Huff, whose given name was America Huff - nick name of Mattie. Mattie is also buried in this lot with George, but her marker is not readable, as is a temporary concrete marker and is crumbling.

George is the son of William and Sarah (Campbell) Calligan.

Several other brothers also moved to Washington State. Phinneas Holden Calligan, (1847-1948) married Mary Ella Evans, in 1902. Mary Ella is the daughter of James A. Evans and Sarah Johnson. Phinneas lived to be 100 years old and is buried in Kent at Hillcrest Burial Park. (WA death cert #11918 ). And Mary Ella died in Monroe in 1915 and is buried at the IOOF cemetery.

Another brother William Calligan, has him as buried in Evergreen, and died in 1926. Or, possibly a nephew.

Brother Thomas who married Elizabeth, may have also come to Washington State to visit son Fred. Their son Fred Raymond Calligan was age 85 when he died in Pierce Co. WA. His death certificate #3102 has him buried in the Old Tacoma Cemetery in Feb 1954. Fred married Emma Haar in 1891 in Pierce Co. WA.
