At the age of 15, Mary was united with the Missionary Baptish Church, and six years later, with her husband, she joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and remained a devoted member of that faith.
In 1855, with her husband & family, she came to Coles county, Illinois, and to Macon county in 1874, then to Bethany in 1899. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and a consistent Christian.
