Mrs. Mariah Chesney departed this life at her home, near Forest City, Mo., December 21, 1893. Deceased was born September 29, 1811, at the time of her death was aged 82 years, 2 months and 22 days. For many years she had been a member of the Christian at Forest City, and was an earnest, faithful Christian woman. Since the writer has been in charge of this congregation, a period of about three years, and for a number of years before, Mrs. Chesney has been an invalid. She suffered much and endured her suffering with true Christian fortitude as long as she retained her mental faculties. For the last year of her life, she was at times hardly conscious of her surroundings, but she never at any time failed to remember the hope that is the peculiar birthright of the Christian. The funeral services were held at the home of the deceased, Saturday, December 23, 1893; after which the body was conveyed to the cemetery at Oregon and there laid to rest.
