Anna Elizabeth Corrington, age 99 of Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, October 18, 2023, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the Donnell - Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Memorials to the Bond County Senior's Center for Meals on Wheels.
Anna Elizabeth Jett, the daughter of James Roy and Myrtle Lillian Jett, was born on July 24, 1924 on the Jett farm South East of Donnellson, Illinois. She grew up on the farm southeast of Donnellson, attended the LaGrange one room school, through the eighth grade, Hillsboro High School for three years, Greenville High School for her fourth year, but ultimately received her diploma from Hillsboro High School. During high school Anna worked at the Hillsboro Hotel and following graduation at Krummel's Store in Donnellson.
Anna and Ivan Woodrow Corrington were united in marriage on February 12, 1947 in Donnellson at the home of his father. They lived in Donnellson during which time they had two sons, Ivan Dean and Kent. In 1967 they moved to Greenville. Ivan and Anna enjoyed more than 54 years together before his death in 2001.
Anna began an in-home daycare for children from several families in 1974, continuing in childcare until 2000. She said she had as much fun as the kids did. She celebrated each one's birthday, and at Christmas one father was Santa Claus. Her pallbearers are some of the young men she helped raise. Anna enjoyed traveling with her family, crocheting, and hummingbirds. She was a faithful member of the Greenville First Christian Church.
Anna is survived by her son Kent of Breese and several nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Elaine Gail Jett in childhood, her husband Ivan, son Ivan Dean Corrington, and a brother Donald Jett.
