MITCHENER, Hugh Lacy, III, (Mickey), 57, of Morehead City, N.C., died Thursday, December 31, 1997 at Carteret General Hospital. He was former owner of Mitchener Ford in Morehead, former owner of Mitchener Chevrolet in Fuquay Varina and former owner of Mitchener Corp. in Narrows, Va. Survivors include his wife, Gayle Banks Mitchener, Morehead City; daughter, Kim Mitchener, Sumter, S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh and Holly Mitchener, IV, Standardsville, Mike and Stephanie Mitchener, Pembroke, stepson, Brian Hugh Harrell, Wilmington; five grandchildren. Funeral services 10 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 1998 at Shephard of the Sea Lutheran Church, Atlantic Beach, with Rev. Shawn Mullen officiating. Graveside services 3 p.m. Saturday in Mont Lawn Cemetery, Raleigh, N.C. Flowers will be welcomed or memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Sea, Carteret Co. Senior Games, Morehead Evening Rotary. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mundens Funeral Home.
