Vernon Leo Stouffer, 80, of 11023 Lincoln Avenue, Hagerstown, died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 4, 1919, in Mount Lena, Md., he was the son of the late Ernest E. and Lottie Savilla Kinsey Stouffer.

He retired in 1981 from Potomac Edison in Hagerstown after 36 years of service.

He was a member of Benevola United Methodist Church, where he held many positions.

He is survived by:
his wife, Jane R. Dubel Stouffer,
whom he married in 1945;
two sons,
Ronald E. Stouffer of Gaithersburg, Md., and
Richard L. Stouffer of Aloha, Ore.;
two sisters,
Mildred Hogan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and
Vivian Van Voorhis of Boonsboro;
three brothers,
Marvin Stouffer of Boonsboro,
Charles Stouffer and
Fayette W. Stouffer, both of Mount Lena; and
five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Elvin Stouffer.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel at Bast Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. Helen S. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Benevola Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Benevola United Methodist Church Fund, 19925 Benevola Church Road, Boonsboro, MD 21713.
