Tuesday, 18 December 1962---GADSDEN TIMES

State Toxocologist William McVay of Huntsville arrived in Gadsden this morning to investigate the cause of death of Julius Argo, 43, of 108 N. 23rd Street, who was found dead at his home about 6:30 a.m. today.

A next-door neighbor, Tom Pollard, said Argo had complained of severe head pains and difficulty in breathing since he was involved in a fight over a week ago. Coroner Noble Yocum said Argo was arrested after the fight and was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and dismissed. This was at 2 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 9.

Argo was taken to the city jail following dismissal from the hospital. He returned to the hospital on Saturday, Dec. 13, and had his stitches removed, the coroner said. No official word as to the direct cause of death will be available until after the autopsy is performed.

Funeral services for Julius Gray Argo, 44, 108 N. 23rd Street, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Railroad Freewill Baptist Church, and burial will be in Forrest cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Hattie Argo, Gadsden; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Atkins and Mrs. Alpha Creech, Gadsden, and Mrs. Jewel Nelson, Ocean Side, Calif.; two brothers, Ottie Argo, Rome, Ga. and Guy Argo, Kansas City, and several nieces and nephews.

A veteran of World War II, he was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County.
