He was 79 years old.Mr. Bruce was an operating engineer with Delta Equipment in Washington, DC for 50 plus years and a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served from 1957-1959 and was of the Baptist faith.He was an avid Redskins, Washington Nationals, and NASCAR fan. He most enjoyed being with his great grandchildren and around his whole family. He loved his dogs Duke, Duchess, and Princess. He was known as a very caring and hard working person.He is the son of the late Larry Edward Bruce and the late Laura Ann Leake.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys Bruce; three sons, William Edward Bruce and his wife Sharon, Ricky M. Bruce, and Glen B. Bruce and his wife Dana; one brother, Calvin Bruce; and one sister, Frances Mudd. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.Friends received on Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 4-8PM with a Funeral Service at 7:30PM at the Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment at a later date at the MD Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
