She was born in Ingomar, California and has lived in Modesto for 14 years. At a young age, her and her family moved to Terceira, Azores where she met her late husband Jose Barcelos Gonçalves and he preceded her in death on February 24, 1985. She loved to knit, sew and had a great sense of humor.
Mrs. Gonçalves is survived by her caregiver, goddaughter and niece Maria (John) Vieira; Niece, Cecilia Swickard; Godson and Nephew – Joe Mendes; Nieces, Zelia Vieira and Amy Mendes; 13 great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by nephew Jack Mendes.
