In June 1900 Minnie Schulz (4 years old, born in May 1896 in Illinois), her father Herman Schulz (32, January 1868, Illinois, laborer), mother Caroline (31, January 1869, Illinois), brothers George (9, May 1891, Illinois) and August (6, January 1894, Illinois) were living in Blue Island village, located just south of Chicago, Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois.
All her four grandparents were born in Germany.

In 1910 Minnie Schultz (13), her father Herman Schultz (42, cement contractor), mother Carolina (41), brothers George (18), August (16) and John (8, Illinois) were living in Ward 2 of Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois.

On January 27, 1917 Minnie Schultz [Schulz] married in her birth place Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois to the four years older Jacob Degroot, born in the Netherlands.

In June 1917 the 24 years old Jacob DeGroot was living with his wife [Minnie] and mother-in-law [Carolina Schultz] at 423 Gregory St in Blue Island, Calumet Township, just south of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, and was working as a machinist helper at Ingalls & Sheperd in West Harvey.

On August 6, 1917 son Lester George Earl Degroot was born in Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois.

In January 1920 Minnie (23, Illinois), her husband Jacob Degroot (27, Holland, inspector at a forging company), their sons Lester (2, Illinois) and Edward (1, Illinois), and her mother Carolina Schultz (51, Illinois) were living in a rented house at 56 Broadway Street in Ward 2 of Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois.

On April 5, 1923 son Elmer John Degroot was born in Blue Island.

In April 1930 Minnie (33), her husband Jacob Degroot (37, steel man at a foundry), their sons Leaster (12), Edward (11) and Elmer (7, Illinois), and her mother Carolina Schultz (61) were still living in a rented house in Blue Island, 1924 Vermont Street, Cook County, Illinois.

On June 24, 1931 Wilhelmine Schultz and Jacob Degroot had a stillborn child at St. Francis Hospital, York & Gregory, Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois, which was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, just north of Blue Island.

In June 1936 they moved from Blue Island to Harvey into a new home, where they lived for 30 years.

In April 1940 Minnie (43), her husband Jacob Degroot (47, hammer man at a steel forge), their sons Lester (22, laborer at a steel mill), Edward (21), Elmer (16) and her mother Lena Schultz (71) were living at an own home, worth $7000, in Harvey, also just south of Chicago, Thornton Township, Cook County, Illinois. They lived in 1935 in Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois.

In 1966 they sold their home in Harvey and moved back to Blue Island, Smith's Mobile Park.

Minnie died in April 1978 at the age of 81 years, very probably in Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois. Her widower Jacob Degroot died in January 1981 at the age of 88 years in Blue Island too.
