Lucy E. Herron, 94, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and formerly of Lima, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte.
She was born June 20, 1920, in Carthagena, Ohio, to Laffayette Hudson and Annabelle Snowball (nee Rickman) Banks.
Lucy was the baby of 12 children. She was the owner of Nancy Lu Day Care in Lima. Lucy came to Port Charlotte in 1979 with her husband of 63 years, Joseph. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Port Charlotte.
She is survived by her son, Gail (Florencia) Herron; daughter, Donna Maddox; 12 grandchildren, Mark D. (Samantha) Batties IV, Shawn M. Batties, Robin L. (Maurice) Pritchett, Glenda Herron, P. Arron Howard, Michelle M. (James) Giganti, Joann Herron, Ashley N. Maddox, Anthony T. Maddox, Gabrielle L. Maddox, Joseph M. Herron and Tiffany R. Maddox; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; 11 siblings; daughter, Nancy Herron Howard; and grandson, Kevin S. Maddox II.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the Funeral Service at noon Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Chapel, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, Fla. Lucy's final rest will follow at Charlotte Memorial Cemetery.
