Laura Eleanor (Brownfield) Gebhardt was born about 1860 in Hardinville, Crawford County, Illinois, the daughter of Lucretia (Williams) (Brownfield) Buser (1839–1913) and her 1st husband John "Wilson" Brownfield (1837–1877). {The 1870 census has Laura listed as 10 years old.}
She was married on April 3, 1888 in Knox County, Indiana to Emil George "E G" Gebhardt Sr (1866–1941), the son of Gabriel Gebhardt, and they left Vincennes the next day to make their home in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee. [The Gebhardt family had emigrated from Rheinpholy Bayern in the German Empire in 1868.]
Laura was 77 years old and a widow when she died of chronic myocarditis on May 11, 1943 in Nashville, Tennessee. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery.
