FREEMAN RODEE
On Thursday Sept 7 occurred the death from heart disease of Freeman Rodee at his home in Summerhill. Funeral services were held at his late home Sunday sept 10 with a very large attendance. Rev M Sage of Groton officiated. A large display of flowers evidenced much love for the deceased. Interment was made in Groton Cemetery
Mr. RoDee was born in Eastern New York Feb 20 1828. On Sept 25 1857 he was married and his wife is left to mourn his loss. Besides his wife, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Frank Gee of Monroe center, O; the only survivor of his father's family, and also eight children, four sons, Edgar C of Alaska, Robert and Fred of Locke, Frank of Moravia, and four daughters Mrs. E E Parks of Homer, Mrs. J Brock of Cortland, Mrs. George L Stevenson of Groton, and Miss Minnie at home.
Mr RoDee has been a resident of Summerhill for about forty-nine years. last March he began to decline quite rapidly and for the past few months his life hung upon the thread of uncertainty but his energetic nature held him up as a patient sufferer. his deep convictions of Christ and eternity gave us all the brightest thoughts amid the gloom of death.
