Mr. Starnes served in the US Army. He was a roofer. Services will be 11 am Wednesday in Goen-Hudgens Funeral Chapel in Denton with the Rev. Bruce Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in Belew Cemetery, Aubrey, Tx.
Survivors include his wife Virginia Smith Starnes of Aubrey; two sons Jimmy Simmons and Allen Starnes both of Plano, Tx. Three daughters Vickie Stewart and Sharon McQueen, both of Plano, Tx, and Lourie Rice of Aubrey, Tx; two brothers, Jessie Floyd Starnes of Arkansas and Jimmie Lee Powers of Miami, FL; three sisters Ruthie Smith of Carrollton and Cindy Dyer and Anaye Johnson, both of Ft Worth, Tx. Eight grandchildren and one great- grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie Floyd Starnes and Lillie Ruth Simms as well as one son Stephen Dewayne Starnes.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 tonight for visitation.
