Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah A. Tarrant, 97 years old, who had been a resident of Chicago for seventeen years at the time of the fire in 1871 and was a charter member of the first chapter of the Eastern Star organization in Illinois, will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the home of her only son, Robert Tarrant J., at 1250 Chestnut avenue, Wilmette. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery.

Mrs. Tarrant was the widow of Robert Tarrant Sr., founder of the Robert Tarrant Manufacturing Company and of Felt & Tarrant Company. She came with him to Chicago from New York in 1854.

As a resident here she witnessed the Chicago fire, and saw it destroy her husband's business. She helped to organize Miriam Chapter No. 1 of the Order of Eastern Star, and in recent years was the oldest member of the organization in the stare. She died Monday at her country home at Powers Lake, Wis.
