Kabuki was born the fifth puppy of a litter of five on Tuesday July 24, 1979. Her mother was my dog, Elizabeth, (see her memorial), and her doggy daddy was Snowball, a Samoyed owned by Mr. Wisner who lived up the street. I named her Angel as she was as white as a cumulus cloud. Two months later she would be renamed Kabuki, which would stick.

Buki, as my Dad who nicknamed her as well, was a delicate lovable creature that my parents immediately swooned over. She was "Kabuki" after the Japanese dancers whom my Dad marveled at while overseas after VJ Day. Buki was the whitest haired of all Elizabeth's pups. She had her Dad's furry mane, that of a Samoyed, she was truly beautiful. Buki also had a very sweet disposition and would always give you a kiss when asked. She'd lick the tip of your nose very delicately when asked. You just had to stick your nose in front of her. She was a sweetie.

Kabuki had a charmed life. She stayed her entire life in the house she was born. Her masters were well off and she was fed well. She had the best of care from veterinarians and dog groomers. Her mother Elizabeth and sister Wednesday visited from time to time along with me. She remembered I was her original caretaker and always greeted me with enormous affection as likewise I extended to her.

Buki's biggest torment in life was regular re-occurring ear infections and loss of hair on her tail. She had to be treated often in the summers with panalog ointment in the ears to clear the problem. AS for her tail, it lost most of the hair despite everything medical and pharmaceutical science could do. I thought her tail looked as if it had been grafted on from an unfortunate possum. Buki made up for these irritations by having extra treats which made her the plumpest of Elizabeth's progeny. My Mom was a great cook, so there was never any shortage of goodies in the house.

As we all do, Kabuki grew old and in her case the extra weight took a little time away from her in the end. Kabuki passed on via euthanasia, she was 15 years old.
