Mrs. Virginia Gemberling, 88, of La Porte, Indiana, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Golden Living Center Fountainview in La Porte, Indiana.
She was born June 8, 1926, in La Porte County, Indiana, the daughter of John Ray Amor and Mary Louise (Bealor) Amor.
Virginia was a member of Salem Chapel United Methodist Church. She graduated from Kingsbury High School. Virginia loved to do quilting.
On March 16, 1946, in La Porte, Indiana, she married James J. Gemberling, who preceded her in death on March 30, 2014.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sherry (Travis) Shipley of La Porte, Indiana, Shurla E. (David) Clark of St. Augustine, Florida; son, Ed (Gail) Gemberling of La Porte, Indiana; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Marjorie Scarborough of Union Mills, Indiana.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Terry J. Gemberling, grandchild, Dana Carson, three brothers, Keith Amor, Russell Amor and Alan Amor and one sister, Elverta Coyer.
Arrangements were entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, Indiana. A life celebration was held at Haverstock Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Robert Raschka officiating.
