Edna Marie Watson 83, of Valley Bend, entered into eternal life at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.

She was born on Sunday, Dec. 27, 1925, at Valley Bend, a daughter of the late Herman Beecher and Arha Emiline Oxley Bennett.

On Saturday, April 8, 1944, in Beverly, she became the bride of Silas Lee Watson, who preceded her in death.

She was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. She was Pentecostal by faith and was a member of the Gospel Light Tabernacle in Elkins. Edna worked for many years as a seamstress. She was employed by the Randolph County Senior Citizens at the Mill Creek Nutrition Site as a cook for 19 years. Edna was a very loving and special lady who will be sadly missed by all who were privileged to be her friend.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Danny Ray Watson in 1950 and Robert "Bob" Dale Watson in 1956; four sisters: Nora, Bessie, Hallie and Eva; and six brothers, Lewis, Charles, Wayne, Carroll and two infant brothers.

Edna is survived by three daughters, Arlene Knick and husband, Kenneth, of Valley Bend, with whom she resided, Darlene Scott and husband, William, of Dailey and Glenda Hedrick and husband, William, of Elkins; one son, Herman Watson and wife, Irene, of Elkins; one special grandson she raised, Richard Watson; two special nephews she raised, Charles and Elmer Watson; two sisters, Florence Pritt of Garrettsville, Ohio, and Janet Hallobaugh of Points; one brother Jennings Bennett and wife, Barbara, of Newton Falls, Ohio; and 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-grandson and several stepgrandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. A.H. "Burt" Belt and the Rev. Franklin Shreve officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery, Georgetown Road, Dailey.
