Joseph A. Barry, 69 of 324 Coleridge Ave., died August 31, 1963 at University Hospital after a short illness.
Mr. Barry was the general foreman of electrical installations at the State Tower Building, the Chimes Building, the powerhouse at Electronics Park and the addition to the Halcolm Steel Co. and other construction projects in the city.
Mr. Barry was a native of Marlborough, NY and lived in Syracuse 50 years. He was a 50 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 43. He was employed by Rao Electrical Contractors.
A World War I veteran, he was a memeber of Tipperary Hill American Legion Post 1362. He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and a member of the Holy Name Society.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Brody Barry; a daughter Miss Mary Ann Barry of syracuse; three sons, John J., William B., and Dr. Joseph A. Barry Jr., all of Syracuse; a sister Winnifred Jennings of Poughkeepsie; two brothers, Frank Barry of DuMont, N.J.and John Barry of West, New York; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Edward J. Ryan Funeral Home, 1628 West Genesee St. and at 9:00 a.m. inst. Patrick's Church where a solemn high requiem Mass will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Thomas J. Driscoll. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today and tomorrow at the funeral home.
