CUMMINGS, Peter A. Age 85, of Brookville, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton following an extended illness. He was a retired semi truck driver, a US Army veteran of both WWII & the Korean War and he was a Board Member of the Trotwood Historical Society. Peter was also a longtime member of the Brookville Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon, and he loved to volunteer with the Brookville HandiVan Ministry. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bonnie; 4 children, Mark (Barbara) Cummings, Bruce (Mimi) Cummings, Rachel L. Cummings, Ruthann (Roger) Janeway; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sister, Nancy Chamberlin, and numerous other relatives and friends. Peter was also a true lover of pets, especially cats. He is survived by his cat, Winnie The Pooh, and by a grand-cat, Molly Pop. He was also preceded in death by his favorite cat, Cleopatra.

Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Mon. Aug. 4 at the GILBERT-FELLERS FUNERAL HOME, 950 ALBERT RD., BROOKVILLE, with Pastor Jim Chronister officiating. Burial will follow in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville. Visitation will be held 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Pete was known by all as loud and outspoken and someone you could never forget. He was known to give you detailed instructions on anything, and he would not stop until he knew that you understood all of what he had said... even if it was wrong. He was an avid reader, always carrying a book with him. As a doctor once said of Peter, "there isn't a book that man hasn't read".
