Bettie Joan Dearing Brawner, 77, of Alvaton, died at 8:22 a.m. Nov. 23, 2009, at The Medical Center.
She was born in the Drake-Boyce community in Warren County on May 13, 1932. She worked at Fruit of the Loom/The Derby/Union Underwear and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where she taught the Ladies Sunday school class. She was a member of WMU, a graduate of Alvaton High School and a 50-plus year member of Drake Eastern Star Chapter 508. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a daughter of the late Claude Dearing and Amy Evelyn Link Dearing and the wife of the late John L. Brawner. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Dearing.
Funeral is at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Goshen Cemetery in Alvaton. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Eastern Star service is at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
