Also, though it may have been knowledge that John had two children in his time, it was not until recently that living family members ( nephews and nieces of the next generation) learned of this from John's uncovered obituary. It was also thought he was a lifelong bachelor by those who recall him.
John was nicknamed and called "Jake" by all who knew him. He was said to be a snappy dresser and the best baseball player around.
