STREATOR — Robert C. Guyon, 87, of Streator, died Tuesday morning, Sept. 1, at St. Mary's Hospital in Streator.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen's Church in Streator with Msgr. Peter Bolerasky officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at Solon Funeral Home in Streator with a rosary at 7.
Mr. Guyon was born Jan. 6, 1911, in Streator, to Rudolph and Mary (Kline) Gayon. He married Donna M. Huggans, on Jan. 28, 1946, at St. Stephen's Church. She died May 28, 1991.
He retired from Sinclair Oil in 1975, and was a member of St. Clemens Lodge Branch 40 of the First Catholic Slovak Union of America, life member of Streator Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217, Local 7-210 Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union.
He coached the American Legion Baseball League for 10 years.
He is survived by a stepson, James Pieper of Mesa, Ariz., two daughters, Marian (James) Shelton of Geneseo, and Roberta Washington of Streator; a sister, Marge Retoff of Streator; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Bangs, Mary Hampson and Frances Smith; and three brothers, Charles, John and Rudolph Gayon.
Pallbearers will be Tim and Troy Shelton, Derek Washington, Bob and Dick Gayon and Albert Retoff. Honorary pallbearers will be John Hau, Ron Pollet, Dick Venegoni, Jack and Kim Pieper and Nicole Washington.
