Margaret “Maggie” (Carbiener) Boom – November 26, 1865 – March 20, 1932
MARBLE ROCK WOMAN CALLED IN DEATH
Margaret Carbiener was the daughter of Michael Carbiener and his wife Mary (Harmon) Carbiener, both natives of France, who came to Marble rock in an early day and purchased a 300 acre fam a mile and a half east of Marble Rock.
She was one of ten children, Mary, now Mrs. William Thieman of Marble Rock; Sarah, Mrs. Schrab, Phoenix, Arizona; George, Jacob and Lewis now deceased; Elizabeth, now Mrs. Grant Mills, Marble Rock; Michael of California; Frederic of Waterloo, and William of Charles City.
She was united in marriage to Folkert Boom and lived on their farm east of town. Three sons were born to this union, William of Marble Rock; Wayne, deceased, and Clifton of Marble rock. Mr. boon passed away several years ago.
Mrs. Boon has been in very poor health for years, but last week was taken critically ill and taken to St. Frances Hospital, Waterloo, by Dr. Lashbrook, where it was found nothing could be done to save her life. She passed away Sunday morning. Mrs. Boom was a member of the Marble Rock Methodist church, the Aid Society and the Royal Neighbor Lodge.
Funeral services will be held this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Marble rock Methodist church. The sermon will be preached by her former pastor, Rev. A. R. Coove, now of Dike.
Interment will be in the Hill Side Cemetery at Marble Rock.
