Obituary: The Eldon Advertiser

Lucy J. Gray, 96, of Eugene died Thursday, March 9, 1989 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. She was born Oct. 1, 1892 in Miller County to Benjamin and Mary Malinda Miller Hinds.

In 1910 she was married in Eugene to Oscar J. Gray, who died in 1943.

Mrs. Gray lived in the Eugene community most of her life and for many years was a correspondent for the Eldon Advertiser and Miller County Autogram-Sentinel. She as a member of the Eugene Christian Church and the Eugene Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a former member of the Eugene Willing Workers Club.

Surviving her are her daughter-in-law, Rayma Gray Henley of Eldon; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her son, James E. Gray, died in 1947.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon with the Rev. Jeff Mahan officiating. Burial was in Spring Garden Cemetery near Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eugene Christian Church.
