Our community is mourning the death of Mr. Walter Willis, which occurred on Friday last at his home near Sharpsburg, after a lingering illness. He was a Confederate veteran and good citizen, esteemed by all who knew him. He leaves four sons and one daughter, his wife having died several years ago. After funeral services, conducted by Rev. H. S. Rees at Coke's Chapel, his body was laid to rest in the quiet churchyard at that place. We extend our condolence to the bereaved relatives."Because the publication date was Friday, Aug 16, and the obituary stated he died the previous Friday, his death date was Aug 9, 1918.
