COLUMBIA - Graveside services with military rites for Charles Arthur Silvers, U.S. Army retired, 72, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park . Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Silvers died Thursday, April 9, 1998. Born in Asheville, he was a son of the late Luther and Iva Presnell Silvers. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War.
Surviving are his wife, Gladys Bensing Silvers; son, Kenneth V. Silvers of Columbia; daughters, Barbara Silvers Martin of New Orleans and Susan Silvers Smith of Irmo; brother, Harry Silvers of Asheville; sister, Frances Silvers of Weaverville, N.C.; and grandchildren, Patrick Martin and Cole Smith.
