My father Steve was born in Chicago to Alex and Lucy (Tietz) Mlynarski.
Steve attended Lane High School until he joined WWII. He started out at Camp Grant in Illinois. While in Normady his commander kept him out of battle because of a trick knee. Everyone in the battle died. My father named his first son after this commander that saved his life. My father also worked in the dental field in the army. After the war he worked as a machinist at Goss Printing on Paulina.
He met his wife Rita Peplow on a blind date. It was at the Fireside Bowl in the Bucktown area of Chicago. They married Sept 30, 1950. They had six children and lived on the NW side of Chicago.
