Harriet Dick Alexander was born in Brushvalley, Indiana Co., Pa. on April 21, 1855. She was the daughter of Alexander and Mary Polly Kelly Dick. Of her ten siblings she was the last surviving member of the family when she passed away April 12, 1946 in Homer City, Indiana Co.

Harriet married Joseph D. Alexander, son of: Samuel and Mary Devinny Alexander, in July 1873. Their union brought nine children. John C., Charles C., Carrie, Margaret(Madge), Samuel R., George C., Irene M., Harriet M. and Helen.

Hattie, as she was known, had spent the last 70yrs. in Black Lick Twp. She was known for her quite manner of living and simple Christian faith, to which she was devoted, and her cheerful patient disposition had been an inspiration to a host of friends and relatives who mourn her sudden passing.

Harriet is survived by the following children: Charles C., Black Lick; Samuel R., New Washington, Ohio; John C., Ashland, Ohio; George C., Shelby, Ohio; Carrie Pohlman, Rome, Pa; Madge Van Horn, Greenwich, Ohio; Irene Davis, Mansfield, Ohio, Helen Hayes, Black Lick & Harriet at home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph D. Alexander, 33yrs. ago in 1913.
