The funeral of the late J. CLARENCE LANE was held at 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning from St. John's Episcopal Church, the edifice being filled with relatives and friends, many persons of prominence coming from a distance to attend the obsequies. The services were conducted by Archdeacon Hoff, of Frederick, assisted by Rev. S.H. Orrick, of Westminster, the new rector of St. John's church and Rev. Louis H. Ewald.

The floral tributes were numerous and very beautiful. All of the institutions and business concerns of which Mr. Lane was connected and many friends, sent emblems or beautiful flowers. The honorary pallbearers were: H.C. Koehler, Saml. B. Loose, Judge M.L. Keedy, Col. Buchanan Schley, M.P. Moller, Edw. M. Updegraff, William Kealhofer, James Findlay, J.G. Bower and A.W. Lucas, of this city; Judge T.J.C. Williams and judge H. Arthur Stump, of Baltimore.

Committees from the Rosewood Training School, near Baltimore; the Washington County Bar Association, Antietam Fire Co., Washington County Bank, of Williamsport; the vestry of St. John's Church and other organizations attended the funeral. The active pallbearers were employees of C.M. Suter & Son, funeral directors. Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.

The following committee of the C.V. Railroad for which Mr. Lane was attorney, attended: W.L. Ritchey, treasurer; H.A. Riddle, General passenger agent; R.M. Huber, real estate agent; T.R. Kennedy, engineer; W.W. Stewart, maintenance of Way Engineer; H.K. Hawbaker, general agent.
