Timothy Wayne Charboneau, age 23, of Erie, KS, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 after a motor vehicle accident near Erie. Tim was born August 11, 1990 in Iola, KS, the son of Gerald Wayne Charboneau and Jami (Foster) Charboneau. Tim graduated from Iola High School. In November 2008, he joined the Kansas Army National Guard. In 2010 he was ordered to active duty in Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he served for just over a year. While in Afghanistan, he earned the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the Nato Afghanistan Service Medal, an Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, an Army Service Ribbon, an Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal. At the time of his passing Tim was serving with the 242 ND Engineer Company. On August 17, 2013, Tim married Valarie Renae Landell in Erie, KS. He worked for Post Rock Energy as a rig hand.
