Terry Lee Carlson was born November 2, 1955 in Bismarck, ND, to Thomas and Erma (Reiser) Carlson. He grew up in Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School. He farmed in the Washburn area throughout his life. He also earned his welding certificate and was a member of Union Local 300 of Plumbers and Pipefitters. After graduation, Terry farmed and worked at area power plants as a pipefitter. Most recently, Terry earned his CDL and was making short hauls.

Throughout his life, Terry was known for his dedication to his family and the family farm. He was friendly to most everyone and often had a joke of some sort for those he saw out and about. Terry married his wife in 1977 and together they had 3 children. They raised their family in Washburn. Terry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and his wife consistently attended school activities and sporting events of their children and grandchildren. Terry was also known for his love of American muscle cars, bright yellow pickups, and state of the art farm machinery. He also loved dogs. He could often be seen with "man's best friend" in the passenger side of his pickup, most familiar to everyone would be Max, who always kept Terry on his toes. Terry was a "DO-ER," if something needed to be done, he took care of it. He was involved with the elevator board for many years and was recognized for his efforts in soil conservation in McLean County.

Terry was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Thomas Carlson.
