Golde Isolde Rosswaag was born in Germany on May 28,1924. Golde, her mother Helene(maiden name Schardong),three siblings,Otto, Rudolph and Judith came to the United States on Easter Sunday,1925. Her father, Rudolph August Rosswaag preceded them by a year and a half. They settled into an apartment that was furnished by her father in Glendale, Long Island. The apartment was in a suburb of New York where Golde and family stayed for about a year before moving to the Yorkville section of Manhattan to be near where her father worked as a metal engraver. Golde died on July 12,1927, in Manhattan at 86th Street between First and Second Avenue after being struck by the crosstown bus #442. Golde had let go of her sister's hand to chase a ball she had dropped. It was the local ice man who brought her broken body to the apartment on the third floor of 339 E. 86th Street.
The grave originally had a marble headstone of a grieving angel, the iron pin on which this angel was mounted is still showing in the photograph of the headstone.

The above bio was submitted by Golde's nephew, Roger Rosswaag.

Note: Golde's siblings, Otto, Rudolph and Judith are still alive as well as younger brother Ramon, who was born after she died. The older ones will always remember Golde as a beautiful, sweet and precious little girl.
